The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest zone, has lauded the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to the development of the state, has he marks his second anniversary in office.
The association, in a statement made available to Vanguard on Wednesday in Ibadan, by its Southwest Assistant General Secretary, Com. Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (Billioncode), expressed its heartfelt congratulations and recognition of the remarkable progress achieved under Adeleke’s leadership in Osun State.
“In just two years, your visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of Osun State have brought about extraordinary progress that resonates deeply with the people,” the statement read.
NANS highlighted several notable accomplishments of the Adeleke administration, including the approval of N75,000 as the new minimum wage for Osun workers, which aims to enhance the quality of life for civil servants.
The association also commended the governor for clearing seven months’ worth of half salaries inherited from previous administrations, showcasing his resolve to address these financial burdens with fairness and integrity.
The statement added: “Furthermore, the release of N16 billion in bonds to pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme was acknowledged as a significant act of empathy towards the elderly who have dedicated their lives to the service of the state.”
NANS pointed out the payment of N2.74 billion in wage awards to civil servants and pensioners as a further demonstration of Adeleke’s commitment to economic stability for public servants.
The statement also noted the cash-backing of promotions previously approved but left without financial implications, ensuring that workers’ career advancements are matched with financial rewards.
Additionally, the NANS remarked on the restoration of confidence in public service through the abolition of the title of Coordinating Directors and the reintroduction of Permanent Secretaries in ministries.
The association emphasised the importance of continuous staff training initiated by Adeleke’s administration to enhance performance and efficiency across the workforce.
“These milestones are a reflection of your steadfast dedication to the welfare of Osun workers, pensioners, and the overall development of the state,” the statement affirmed.
The association expressed hope that the governor’s administration, known for its focus on progress and inclusivity, will extend its transformative efforts to address the needs of students across the state.
“We believe in your passion for education and youth development, and we are confident that your legacy will include monumental strides in the student community.”
“Once again, the association congratulated Adeleke on this significant milestone and expressed optimism for continued progress in Osun State,” the statement concluded.
