In celebration of October 11th the International Day of the Girl Child also called the Day of the Girl, Child Rights Foundation (CRF) joins the global community to recognize and celebrate the successful emergence of girls and women as a key focus in the development policies, programs, advocacy, and research.
The foundation advocates also for more support for girls and to increase awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender on this day. This inequality ranges in areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women, and forced marriage.
Established in 2000 by Hajiya Khadijah Adamu, the Child Rights Foundation has consistently advocated for the rights and empowerment of the girl child in Nigeria. Over two decades, CRF has thrived through establishing invaluable partnerships with global organizations like UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO), making significant strides in reshaping Nigeria.
Today, under the visionary leadership of Aisha Abdullahi Adamu, CRF has achieved remarkable milestones, including the construction of schools and clinics, as well as the initiation of numerous school feeding programs across Nigeria. The foundation continues its unwavering commitment to empowering and fostering an environment where the girl child is given the tools, they need to realize their potential and shape their future. The theme for this year’s International Day of the Girl Child is “Girls’ Vision for the Future,”which resonates deeply with CRF’s mission to empower the girl child through education, with the ultimate goal of creating a brighter and more promising future. The foundation is driven by the belief that every girl has the power to lead and inspire positive change in society.
Speaking on this significant day, Hajiya Khadijah Adamu, Founder of the Child Rights Foundation, emphasized the importance of empowering and investing in the girl child:
“The girl child is the base of life. Give girl child all the rights as like as a boy. Educate her, empower her as proper education is birth rights of all the girls.
Empowering girls is not just a goal; it’s a necessity for better and more equal world. Girls are the architects of change and their dreams have the power to transform societies.
A girl with a dream can change the world.”
CRF’s programs under the steadfast guidance of Aisha Abdullahi Adamu reaffirms the foundation’s commitment to providing access to quality education, building safe and supportive communities, and improving healthcare access in communities that need it the most to enhance their overall well-being.
Through initiatives such as school construction, healthcare clinics, and school feeding programs, CRF has touched the lives of countless young girls, enabling them to envision and work toward a future filled with possibilities.
On this Internationa
l Day of the Girl Child, the Child Rights Foundation calls upon policymakers, educators, and communities to join in this mission. Let us work together to support girls’ education, amplify their voices, and ensure that their visions for the future are realized.
