Less than two weeks to meetings of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee NEC of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, elders of the party from the North Central have declared their support for the party’s National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.

The North Central APC Elders Forum which commended the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule for his role in restoring peace to the APC in the zone, also backed Sule’s recent visit to the APC National Secretariat where he declared support for Ganduje.

Some elements of the party in the zone had recently castigated Gov. Sule for visiting Ganduje and making comments they deemed as a vote of confidence on the former Kano governor.

However, Chairman of the Forum and former President of the Senate, Senator Ameh Ebute in a statement issued Monday in Abuja described Governor Sule’s visit as “a rightful intervention in discussing the interests of the elders of our great party in our zone”.

“We are happy that Governor A.A sule is leading the North Central geo-political zone to reposition the party for maximum performance”, said Senator Ebute.

The Forum also thanked President Bola Tinubu and Dr Ganduje for resolving the political crisis in the Benue state APC.

“The dissolution and constitution of the Caretaker Committee in Benue has restored peace to both the party and governance in the State”, said Ebute.

He urged all APC governors of the zone to emulate Gov. Sule in regularly visiting the party leadership “to further cement our relationship with the leadership at the centre”. 

While applauding the Ganduje-led National Working Committee for the establishment of the National Progressives Institute, the Forum tasked the national chairman to include the North Central in the leadership structure of the Institute which will be unveiled soon.

“We are committed to supporting anything that will be beneficial to the North Central people using the governing APC to attract development to our zone”, the elders declared.
