Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed his excitement after making his first UEFA Champions League appearance for Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface featured in Leverkusen’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Feyenoord at the Stadion Feyenoord, Rotterdam, on Thursday night.
The 23-year-old forward played for 62 minutes before being substituted for Patrick Schick.
Reflecting on the match, Boniface spoke of how the experience was a dream come true, particularly recalling his childhood in Akure, Nigeria, where he paid just 30 naira to watch Champions League games at the 323 Army Barracks.
“From paying 30 Naira to watch champions league football for night back then for 323 army barrack
Akure to playing my first champions league game. Proud of this moment,” he wrote on X.
