Protesters waving Russian flags

As the protest against bad governance enters its fifth day, protesters hit Kano streets carrying Russian flags while others resort to observing special prayers in the state.
The protesters in their numbers carrying the flag were seen conducting their protest peacefully around Kano – Kano-Zaria Road, Zoo Road and Hadejia Road among others.
“The persons were protesting against the removal of fuel subsidy which they believe is influenced by Western hence the return to Russian President, Vladimir Putin for help,” a source told our reporter.
In a related development, some youths gathered themselves and observed special prayers seeking divine intervention of God over the too many woes bedevilling the country.
The youths assembled at Riminkebe in Ungogo Local Government area, Sagagi and Jaen in Kano Municipal to observe the special prayers.
One of the organizers, Mubarak Riminkebe said they turn to God to seek his divine intervention since he is the supreme.
He said they also plan to observe fasting in addition to the special prayers.
Meanwhile, the Kano State government have distanced itself from the protesters carrying the Russian flag.
The Spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature said the protesters were not affiliated with the government, saying the genuine protesters have submitted their grievances and the Governor, Abba Yusuf is working hard for onward submission to President Bola Tinubu.
