As part of its contribution to the anti-corruption fight, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, NIQS, has unveiled plans to develop a comprehensive cost databank to assist both the public and private sectors in their quest for greater transparency in project management.
President of the Institute, Qs.Kene Nzekwe, announced this in his opening remarks at the national workshop of the institute, with the theme “Innovative and Sustainable Construction Practices – Building a Resilient Cost-based and Knowledge-driven Industry with Integrity, which started in Abuja yesterday.”
He said: “I am pleased to announce to our guests that the Institute has embarked on a significant initiative, the development of a comprehensive cost databank.
“This databank when completed will serve as a critical tool for enhancing transparency and accountability in the construction sector, allowing for effective monitoring and regulation of construction costs at local, state, and federal levels.
“With this resource, we can ensure that every Naira spent on construction projects is accounted for, and that value for money is consistently achieved.”
