…As stakeholders hail outcome of chapter congress

THE People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has elected new Chapter Executive Committee members across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State who would hold the reins of leadership of the party at the level in the next four-years.
During the Congress held on Saturday August 10, the PDP elected a total of 18 Chapter Officers were elected in each Local Government, 31 National Delegates, per Local Government Area, as well as 31 Persons Living with Disabilities, (PLWDs), National Delegates, also one per each LGA.
The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno and leader of the party in the state was elected as National Delegates during the Local Government Congress held at the PDP chapter Secretariat in Nsit Ubium local government area.
Governor Eno in his message of goodwill which was delivered by the elders and Stakeholders of the party in each local government area, advised that the newly elected party officers must be prepared to work assiduously to steady the party on the path of successive electoral conquest in Akwa Ibom.
Speaking in Nsit Ubium chapter Secretariat, the Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob, congratulated the newly elected party officers in area.
While addressing Stakeholders and Returning officers earlier, just before they left to the various Local Government Areas, Akwa Ibom State chairman of the party, Elder Aniekan Akpan, emphasized the need to elect officers who were ready to make sacrifices and committed to work for the interest of the party.
“In this State, our Party, the PDP is privileged to stay as the most loved, and preferred political party for Akwa Ibom people. Therefore those who we elect must be persons who will adopt an altruistic disposition that will make millions of people continue to admire the PDP and choose us.”
Elder Akpan asserted.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, elder while congratulating the new chapter Executive members of the party in Abak Local government, attributed the success of the exercise to transparency and improved internal democracy in the party.
At Uruan Local Government the immediate past Speaker of the state House of assembly who is currently representing Uyo (Akwa Ibom Northeast) Senatorial district, Senator Aniekan Bassey hailed the orderly and peaceful conduct of the congress and congratulated the new chapter leaders of the PDP.
Also in his brief remarks, the former National Legal Adviser of PDP, Emmanuel Enoidem, (SAN), noted that in his local government area, Etim Ekpo, the congress met the expectations of the party, stressing , “This is another opportunity for the party to increase the pace and root of PDP in Etim Ekpo local government area”
Also the deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kufreabasi Edidem, who described the congress “seamless and rancor-free”, applauded the stakeholders of the party in Itu local government area for producing the first ever female chairmans of the party in Itu chapter in the person of Mrs Inemesit Maxwell.
In their respective remarks, at Oko-Ita in Ibiono Ibom local government area, the stakeholders including a former Speaker of the State Assembly, Ignatius Edet and, immediate past State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr Borono Bassey, expressed delight for a seamless chapter Congress, and the capacity of the new EXCO led by Mr Unyime Leo to solidify the already stronghold of PDP in the area.
Similarly,, Stakeholders of Uyo local government, including Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission, Hon Monday Eyo, described the election process as seamless and hitch-free, commending the Governor Umo Eno for providing leadership and direction.
At the end of the Uyo chapter congress Hon. Anthony Ekong emerged as the chapter chairman, while Mrs Elizabeth Utibe Ini emerged as vice chairman, The Chapter Congress was also conducted in Ika Local Government Area while in Ika local government area one Elder Oyomo Oyomo emerged as the Chapter Chairman.
Stakeholders of Ika, and Etinan LGAs including Chairman of the Congress Committee in Ika and immediate past Akwa Ibom state Attorney General, Uwemedimo Nwoko,( SAN) and member representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Obong Paul Ekpo hailed the state governor for charting a developmental, peaceful and enviable path for the party which has enhanced the smooth conduct of the party Congresses in the State.
On their part, the immediate past Chapter chairmen of PDP in Esit Eket and ONNA local government areas, Elder Eddy Etangkanga and Barr Ubong Asap respectively lauded the leadership of the party in the State for conducting a peaceful chapter Congress.
In Ibesikpo Asutan LG Mr Nsikak Nanga emerged as chapter chairman, Lady Ime Orok as vice chairman, while for Mkpat Enin Local Government Chapter one Mr Isaiah Akpan emerged as Chapter Chairman.
The senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson, reassured that his constituents would remain relentless in entrenching the ideals of the PDP and working for its success.

The 5-Man Chapter Congress Electoral Committee for Akwa Ibom State sent in from the National Headquarters of the Party had Hon. Ene Ndubuisi David as Chairman and Hon. Emmanuel Ekpe as the Secretary.
