SGF, ministers meet over planned protests

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume has met with ministers to develop measures to avoid the planned nationwide protests scheduled for August 1.

Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office in the OSGF, Richard Pheelangwah had in a letter to the ministers on Tuesday night said the meeting was mandatory.

Aside from the ministers, others who were invited included the Special Advisers to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman; Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, were among those invited for the meeting.

Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris is expected to give snippets of the closed-door meeting later.
