The United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, has disclosed that Hyundai Motor America will be recalling about 67,000 vehicles in the United States to correct some technical faults.
Specifically, it said the company is recalling about 54,647 vehicles over a software error in the transmission control unit.
According to the NHTSA, the recall impacts certain 2019 to 2023 models of Genesis G70, Veloster, Elantra, and Kona.
It should be recalled that in September 2023, Hyundai and Kia, two related companies, issued a recall of 3.4 million vehicles in the USA.
Also, in March 2024, Hyundai America recalled 28,439 vehicles due to possible oil leaks, which could trigger fire in an engine compartment .
Efforts to reach Hyundai representatives in Nigeria, the Stallion Motors, proved abortive as they neither picked the call nor returned the calls.
An official who spoke to Vanguard unofficially but declined to be quoted said there was no cause for alarm as the company usually takes its Hyundai vehicles from Korea.
He also added that most of the models being recalled are not popular in Nigeria, except the Elantra.
