…Says Nigerians ‘re tired of PDP, APC

THE African Democratic Congress, ADC, has charged the leaders and stakeholders of Akwa Ibom State chapter of the party to embark on aggressive membership drive ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country.

 National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Nwosu gave the charge, weekend, while addressing the party faithful during inauguration of the State Caretaker Committee of the party and the official opening of its State Secretariat along Udotung Ubo Street, Uyo, the state capital.

Nwosu stressed that the stakeholders must work very hard to ensure the party wins elections in 2027, saying that ADC could not afford to make same mistake the Labour Party (LP) made during the 2023 general elections where the party didn’t have its structures felt strongly at the grassroots across the country.

 He explained that what happened during the 2023 polls where the LP made very impressive outing, despite not spending money to influence voters, however, was an indication that Nigerians were tired of the two major parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

 He therefore advised the party faithful in the State not to be complacent remaining a government in waiting.

 His words, ” Nigerians are tired. They are tired of the two major parties- the APC and PDP. And no matter the amount of money they will move around in 2027 Nigerians will vote against them. They money they are moving around when did they make it? 

“Every political party is a government in waiting . And for you to become a government in power depends on your hard work. If we all decide today to work hard, not minding the difficulties faced in the country,  ADC will become a government in power. We can achieve this by getting the party structure down to the grassroots, not just down to the wards.

” Your party is as strong as any other political party in Nigeria, and if you work hard everybody in this state will vote ADC.  But if you go ahead and stay complacent, Akwa Ibom people will not vote you, and ADC will remain a government in waiting, instead of a government in place, or power.

“The problem with a lot of people in Nigeria is that they don’t know that political party is a government in waiting. And I always say this, that our own government in power will not be like the APC or the PDP government. We are carrying out a crusade and the crusade is that Nigeria must move forward”

The ADC national chairman disclosed that there’s currently a push for local government elections across the country to be conducted centrally, because state governors stunt development at the grassroots and carry the money to buy private Houses in Dubai

   “The abuse and rape of this country must stop. There’s no local government in Nigeria that does not have between N500million to N900million every month but the governors embezzle the money.

   If I tell you the billions of dollars and Naira spent in Akwa Ibom State, within the last 24yeats, it will develop a big city in America.

Some prominent Akwa Ibom persons have become billionaires both in dollars and Naira out of the money due to Akwa Ibom people. That has to stop”, Nwosu alleged.

Also addressing the state chapter of the party, the National Vice Chairman South -South, elder Festus Igbinoba charged the new caretaker committee to work hard to make sure the requirements for the  party’s state Congress was put in place.

  “The people of Akwa Ibom State deserves loyalty and good stewardship from you. We must all come together to rejuvenate the African Democratic Party (ADC) in the State, Senatorial, local government areas and wards to give the state a new lease of life”, he stated.
