The Temvert Foundation, through its Equip the Students Project, has donated some materials to Hope for the Slum Floating School, one of the underserved schools in the Makoko community of Lagos.

Foundation, on Tuesday, through its Lagos volunteer coordinators, Ayanfeoluwa Olamilekan and Sharon Ayorinde, impacted the pupils and some teachers of the school and donated more than 1000 materials to them.

The founder of the foundation, Temitayo Olatunde, said the mission of his organisation is to ensure that basic school students have the basic tools they need to learn and grow into productive adults and leaders.

He stated that every year they reach out to underserved schools in southwest Nigeria and empower students with the materials they need to excel in their academics.

“Our aim remains the same, which is ensuring every child has equal access to quality education. We donated exercise books, school uniforms, pens, and pencils, among others to the school to ensure that the schoolchildren have free access to quality materials.

“Access to quality school materials is part of the foundation for quality education. It is hard for a student to perform well academically if he or she does not have a uniform and writing materials,” he said.
He revealed that last year, the foundation distributed 1000 writing materials to a school in Osun State under the Equip the Students Project.

In light of this, Olatunde reiterated the foundation’s commitment to ensure that, at least, 10,000 school materials are distributed to students for free as part of Equip the Students Project mission, thereby making schooling easier and successful.

The public relations officer of the foundation; AbdulRasheed Adetunji, said the project is a vital step in addressing the alarming state of the Nigerian educational system, adding that many children in underserved areas lack access to basic resources which hinders their ability to learn and thrive.
“Our commitment to fostering quality education in Nigeria drives us to bridge this gap. By providing essential support, we aim to empower these young minds, giving them a chance for a brighter future,” Adetunji said.
The founder of the school, Deborah Adepoju, commended the foundation for donating to the school. She said the materials will encourage other children to attend the school, thereby encouraging education.
“The free school uniforms came at the right time, and it is a great joy for the students and their parents. The burden of uniform has been relieved for their parents and they will have more reasons to send their children to school,” she added.

Adepoju urged the public to support the school, as they still need more learning materials such as canoes, tables, food, chairs, and money for salaries, among others.
