A group under the aegis of the 21st century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience 21st CYNDAC has called for an immediate solution to the lingering political quagmire in Rivers State before it gets out of hand.

In a statement by the leader of the 21st century youths of the 21st CYNDAC, Izon Ebi, the Niger Delta group noted current crisis and skirmishes by political actors are pushing the state to the precipice and anarchy, just as it said that the elections are over and time for governance and democratic derivable has come.

Ebi stressed that a situation where the Siminalayi Fubara led government of Rivers  state was tactically and technically deliberately distracted does not augur well for the good people of the state, stressing  that the  1999 Constitution as amended has never ceded a state and its resources to any individual, by the tenets of the Constitution, the state and its resources belong to the people and as such.

He however warned that attempt to hijack the state will be stoutly resisted by the 21st century youths and affiliated organizations in the Niger Delta, just as he pleaded with  the Chief Justice of the Federation, CJN,  Justice Olukayode Ariwoola and the National Judicial Council, NJC to beam their searchlight and oversight functions on alleged  buy one take two judges who are bent on truncating  this democracy in their unending quest for filthy lucre.

The group has called on President Bola Tinubu to be forthright in the defence of the Constitution which he swore to protect when addressing the issues relating to the situation in Rivers State, adding that It should be noted that Rivers State being the treasure base of the Nation does not need instability as it would boomerang to other states in the region.

The statement read, “The 21st Century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with conscience ( 21st CYNDAC  ) in conjunction with other critical stakeholders are miffed by the current political imbroglio which is taking place in Rivers State.

“It is of note that this current crisis and skirmishes by political actors is pushing the state to the precipice and anarchy and as such, something critical needs to be done to nip the situation in the bud before it gets out of hand.

The elections are over and time for governance and democratic derivable is here. A situation was the government of the state is tactically and technically deliberately distracted does not augur well for the good people of the state.

“It should be noted that during the Last democratic dispensation in the state despite the tumultuous disposition of the then Governor Barr Nyesom Wike, the state witnessed a semblance of stability as few showmanship projects were executed mainly in Obio Akpor local government and the fringes of Port Harcourt local government. In retrospect, during the last dispensation was when violence took a drastic turn as murder and gruesome beheadings surfaced as crimes before unknown in Rivers State.

“The deliberate plans by Politicians and conjunction with rogue state actors should be unanimously condemned by critical stake holders and citizens if peace and progress is to be enjoyed in the state.

It should be of note that for the first time in the last ten years, major projects are being inaugurated outside Port Harcourt municipality. The trans Kalabari Road, Elele Omoku, Port Harcourt Ring Road 1 are laudable testimonies to the determination of the present administration to change both the infrastructural and economic road map of the State.

“The 150% increase in the internally generated revenue of the state bears testimony to the financial management, accountability and probity of the Sir Similaye Fubara’s acumen as an astute administor.

“The 21st Century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with conscience reiterates that these gains should be protected and should not be taken for granted. The 1999 Constitution as amended has never ceded a state and it’s resources to any individual, by the tenets of the Constitution, the state and it’s resources belong to the people and as such, any attempt to hijack the state will be stoutly resisted by the 21st century youths and affiliated organizations in the Niger Delta.

“We use these medium to call on the Chief Justice of the federation, Justice Olukayode Ariowola, the National Judicial Council  to beam their searchlight and oversight functions on buy one take two judges who are bent on truncating  this democracy in their unending quest for filthy lucre.

“Finally, we urge Mr President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. to be forthright in the defence of the Constitution which he swore to protect when it concerns the situation in Rivers State. It should be noted that Rivers State being the treasure base of the Nation does not need instability as it would boomerang to other states in the region.

On no account should Mr President take the suffering and silence of the youths and people of the Niger Delta for granted. Any underhand actions by rogue Political actors is bound to erode the gains in other sectors like the development strides in the NDDC, the sabotage of Pipeline and illegal bunkering that has been relatively contained by Tantita  Pipeline security outfit.

“We  don’t envisage Niger Deltans taking their fate in their hands as it will lead to anarchy. Mr President Should remember that his success as Lagos Governor is what made him President today.

“If civility is not maintained in the conduct of political actors, it can be assured that this bazaar of looting, killings and suffering called democracy will end. The political class shouldn’t take the masses for fools, Let Sim lead as others did or we should all prepare to end democracy in Nigeria. A stitch in time saves Nine.”
