OHANAEZE Ndigbo said it has taken serious decision to deal with some Igbo, it described as dissidents who have been working against the interest of Ndigbo.

Ohanaeze insisted that there is no faction in the apex Igbo social-cultural body, saying it is only the Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu led Ohanaeze Ndigbo that exists.

Rising from a meeting of its National Executive Committee in Enugu, the Igbo apex body said it has decided to submit the names of dissident group led by one Okechukwu Isiguzoro who parades himself as the Secretary General of Ohanaeze to Ime Obi.

According to Ohanaeze, these people would be sent to Ime Obi, the highest decision making body of Ohanaeze for severe necessary punishments.

Besides, their names would also be sent to all Igbo communities to be ostracized.

Addressing journalists on the outcome of the meeting, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu stressed with pains, the subversive activities of the group who he said were being driven by money.

Iwuanyanwu said called Isiguzoro and advised him, but he allegedly demanded huge amount of money to take care of his health. He said he promised to assist him but still he didn’t stop issuing illegal statements to always counter Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s position on issues, just to confuse the public.

The President General explained that Engr. Ibe who was working with them had come to him to pledge his support and no more with them.

Iwuanyanwu said that the most painful action taken by the dissidents was a rumour they circulated last week, accusing him of planning to go and beg the North for the civil war.

He said such a thing was never contemplated or discussed at any Ohanaeze Ndigbo meeting, insisting that such would never happen.

He insisted that the 1966 military coup was not plotted by Igbo officers, rather an Igbo General stopped it, saying that Igbo deserve commendation for that.

Iwuanyanwu said the NEC decided to take the activities of the dissidents to Ime Obi to take drastic action because if they are not stopped now, they will destroy Igbo land.

He said they did the same to all past Ohanaeze leaders, insisting that they would investigate to know who the people sponsoring them.

He said that he has been receiving threats to burn his house, but said that he was not bothered as long as he is doing the right thing Igbo.
