…as marauders again kill 3 in farm

The Lawmaker representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, in the National Assembly, Pastor Ojotu Ojema has condemned the ceaseless killings of his constituents by armed herdsmen.
The condemnation came as three farmers were reportedly ambushed and killed Friday morning by suspected armed herdsmen at Ogbaulu Community while working in their farms.
According to a statement issued in Makurdi by his Media Aide, Olikita Ekani, those killed in the attack were Edoh Alhassan, Echewija Edoh and Simon Emmanuel.
In the statement “the lawmaker expressed sadness over the latest killing and other gruesome murder of Apa and Agatu farmers and inhabitants by the marauding Fulani herdsmen, saying an attack or killing of anyone is an agony to everyone in the Federal Constituency.
The Chairman, House Standing Committee on National Inland Waterways wondered why it was taking too long for security agencies to put an end to the renewed attacks and killings in Apa and Agatu Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state.
“He adds that the lives of his constituents are the most precious to him and should also matter to the Federal Government as there must be people first before Governance.
“He called on governments at all levels to wake up to their primary responsibilities, which is the protection of lives and property of the citizenry.
“The lawmaker commiserates with the families who lost loved ones to the renewed insecurity and assured them of a quick end to the menace so that they can go back home to continue with all their activities.”
He noted that “attacks and killings by marauding herdsmen have become a daily affair in Apa and Agatu LGAs, resulting in wanton destructions, killings and displacement of the inhabitants of several communities across the Federal Constituency.
The former Youth and Sports Commissioner in Benue State, called on the security personnel to redouble their efforts to end the ongoing killings in the Federal Constituency.
