Dennis Otuaro
The Coalition of Edo Riverine Communities has thrown its weight behind Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) coordinator Dr. Dennis Otuaro condemning “dastardly” attacks on his leadership from some ex-militant leaders.
In a strongly worded press release, the Coalition’s National President Comr. Ipiteikumoh Godfrey Owei accused unnamed groups of “spewing falsehoods” against Dennis on social media and several online media platforms in an attempt to “pull him down”.
Owei stated that the majority of Niger Deltans see Dennis as “a quintessential man for the job”, praising his academic credentials and deep understanding of the region’s struggles.
He charged that those calling for Dennis’ dismissal were angry that the Amnesty office was “no longer a cocoa farm” for their illegal activities, adding that the Coordinator was seriously disrupting such abuses.
Spokesperson Hon. Ezekiel Daniel backed up these claims, saying that under Dennis leadership “various illegalities in the office have been put to a stop.”
The Coalition defended Dennis’ “thorough reforms”, with Secretary Mr. Samuel Oroupa insisting he deserves time and support to enact real change.
Publicity Secretary Hon. Ayedi Ikiyokepere Sunny urged the public to “disregard the rumour mongering of these persons and stand with Dennis as he makes the Amnesty program truly benefit Niger Delta communities.”
