Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has sought renewed bilateral collaboration with the Republic of South Korea in the areas of education, investments, culture, and tourism.

The Governor made the position of his government known Tuesday when he visited the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Vice Admiral Kim Pankyu (retd) in Abuja.

The Governor in a statement by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, recalled previous relationships between Benue and South Korea in various sectors and urged for a renewal of the relationship.

He said the Governor also sought collaboration with the Republic of South Korea to help the state address issues of post-harvest losses yearly recorded by farmers in the state.

According to him, the Governor “is seeking collaboration and partnership in the areas of Smart Schools, renewable energy, capacity building, and investments, particularly in processing facilities where post-harvest wastes could be taken care of.

“He recalled previous relationship with South Korea in the areas of economic development, noting her investments in Lobi Bank, and also sought renewed bilateral collaborations in education and culture and tourism.”

The Adviser stated that the South Korean Ambassador, who was elated to receive the Benue Governor said he was the first to be received in that capacity in the Embassy.

He said the Ambassador “promised to do everything within his powers to ensure a robust relationship brewed between the country and Benue state, especially in the areas of direct investments.”
