The Taraba state government is set to distribute no fewer than 100 Carbio Compact tractors and 750 mini-tractors to farmers across the state to boost food production and encourage mechanized farming.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. Nicholas Namessan, who spoke at the assembly plant of the machines, said the tractor units would be given at subsidized rates to genuine farmers across the 16 local government areas of the state.

He also informed that the the state government has already received the first batch of procured tractors.
According to him, “We have taken delivery of the first batch of 20 Carbio compact tractors and 250 mini-tractors which we are currently coupling.
“However, in the package, we will receive 100 compact Carbio tractors and 750 mini-tractors.

“This is a big lift for farmers to kickstart the farming season with brand new tractors, and with the volume that would be delivered, it will be enough for our farmers.
“The distribution would not be business as usual because a template has been developed to ensure it gets to genuine farmers.
“Already, the ministry has captured farmers’ data across the 16 LGAs some weeks back, and it would be useful to us while allocating tractors to farmers.”
He also said the ministry has trained about 60 engineers to service the tractors and would soon commence a train-the-trainers program to increase the manpower of servicemen for the large volume of tractors expected.
