Morocco’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has officially announced that the crescent moon sighting for Eid Al Fitr will occur on Tuesday.
In a statement released today, the ministry called upon its religious committee and representatives to observe the moon for Shawwal, marking the conclusion of Ramadan on Tuesday evening.
The ministry emphasized that the religious committee and representatives are required to promptly report the confirmation or absence of the moon sighting using designated phone numbers.
Astronomical calculations predict that Eid Al Fitr will fall on April 10 in Morocco.
Similarly, several countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Egypt, are anticipated to declare Wednesday as Eid Al Fitr.
Saudi Arabia and the aforementioned nations are poised to witness the crescent moon for Eid Al Fitr this evening [Monday].
Certain countries, such as Australia, have already proclaimed Wednesday as Eid Al Fitr.
Eid Al Fitr is a joyous celebration that fosters a unique atmosphere within Muslim communities worldwide.
The festivities commence with morning prayers, followed by a lavish morning breakfast – the first in a month – featuring sweets, as well as the renowned msemn (flatbread) and Moroccan pancakes known as baghrir.
Moroccan children don new attire and receive either gifts or money.
Throughout the day, Moroccans engage in visits and partake in shared lunches, marking the first meal following a month-long fasting period.
