The Director, Media and Publicity of the APC gubernatorial candidate in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo Campaign Organisation has dismissed the recent claims made by the Executive Chairman of Esan West Council, Hon. Collins Aigbogun, regarding the facilitation of the construction project in the Ekpoma Axis of the Benin-Auchi expressway a federal government project.
Mayaki made this known in a statement yesterday in Abuja , noting that “It has come to our attention that Hon. Collins Aigbogun has been taking undue credit for the initiation and facilitation of this crucial infrastructure project. However, it is imperative to set the record straight and acknowledge the true facilitators behind this endeavor.
“Contrary to Hon. Aigbogun’s assertions, it was Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo and Distinguished Senator Adams Oshiomhole who played key roles in facilitating discussions with the federal government to undertake this project.
“Last month, both senators and other stakeholders convened with the Minister of Works, His Excellency David Umahi, where it was agreed that contractors would be mobilized to the site after the approval of President Bola Tinubu. This development garnered significant attention across traditional and social media platforms.
“It is essential to note that during the agreed period for mobilization, which coincided with the Sallah holidays, neither the council Chairman nor the Edo state government were involved in the facilitation process.
“Senator Okpebholo’s proactive engagement and tireless efforts were instrumental in bringing together key stakeholders and securing commitments for the construction of the dual carriageway—a fact that must not be overlooked.
“It is regrettable that Hon. Aigbogun has chosen to misrepresent the facts and appropriate credit for the project, which was made possible through the collective efforts of Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Senator Okpebholo’s facilitation.
“Moving forward, it is crucial for transparency and accountability that credit is rightfully attributed to those who contribute to the development and progress of our communities. We urge Hon. Aigbogun to acknowledge the role of both Senators and refrain from misleading the public about the origins of this significant infrastructure renewal”.
