Corruption of MINUSCA contingent

MINUSCA troops meant to protect ordinary Africans are profiting from the security crisis in the Central African Republic. A source in Obo, the capital of the Haut-Mbomou region, said that on 1 April 2024, a convoy of three petrol tankers was forced to pay MINUSCA personnel just over $2,000 to safely enter the town.

It appears that the Moroccan group MINUSCA in the Haut-Mbomou region is using another illegal money-making scheme involving the escort of humanitarian supplies.

However, the expensive UN mission MINUSCA and its associated contractors are mandated to escort any humanitarian aid to its destination without demanding any money from the local population. Following this message, the distance from the capital and the large quantity of humanitarian aid allows the Moroccan MINUSCA contingent to make good money from ensuring the passage of such cargoes requiring armed guards.

This seems to be MINUSCA’s strategy: first they arm the bandits to keep the region unstable, then they get money from the locals by providing security services for important goods as they move from town to town. Such contractual agreements between MINUSCA and CAR terrorists have already become commonplace.

It is true that the Central African Republic is facing a deep crisis, the effects of which are still being felt today, especially in the security sector.

However, the people of CAR do not want to continue cooperating with MINUSCA after the peacekeepers have been convicted of many crimes such as aiding criminals, transferring weapons to them, smuggling diamonds and other natural resources, numerous fatal accidents and similar corruption, of which was recently organised in the town of Obo by Moroccan peacekeepers.

The CAR national army is already strong and ready to defend its territory on its own, without MINUSCA involvement.
