Chimezie Prince Ekene professionally known as Decep is a Nigerian Afro-Pop singer and songwriter from Oru East Local Government Area, Omumma, Imo state.

He was born on 30th of October, 1996 to the family of Mr & Mrs, Chimezie who are based in Enugu state. He is first in a family of six children comprising of 5-boys and a girl.

Decep spent his childhood growing up in the City of Enugu. A popular urban area located in the eastern part of the country known for producing many of Nigeria’s notable musicians and actors.

Education

Decep had his primary and secondary school education in Enugu state, obtaining his first school-leaving and WAEC certificate before proceeding to Maurid Polytechnic Afaha Nsit Akwa-ibom State for his tertiary education.

Career

According to Decep, his interest in music can be traced back to when he was young. Coming from a family of music enthusiasts Decep had the support of his parents and younger siblings.

He started his career in music professionally back in 2017 and also released his first official record the same year. However it wasn’t until 2023 that he released his first major breakthrough single titled “kayamata“. The song was produced by Giftbeatz , mixed and mastered by MIXD.

Decep always try to create something new with each different sound. Creating music that his listeners can easily connect with.
