OHANAEZE Ndigbo has condemned the recent killing of 16 soldiers who were said to be on a peace mission in Okuama and Okoloba Communities in Delta State.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary Alex Chidozie Ogbonnia, the President General of Ohanaeze, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was quoted to have also recalled the killing of 36 soldiers who were ambushed in Niger State last year.

He condemned the killings, describing it as “barbaric and gruesome” for “innocent, faithful and gallant soldiers who were on call to duty to be wasted like that”.

Iwuanyanwu commended President Bola Ahmed for his prompt reaction to the unfortunate incident and urged the Presidency to leave no stone unturned “to fish out the savage culprits to serve as a deterrent to many others”.

While commiserating with the army high command and the bereaved families of the fallen heroes, Ohanaeze Ndigbo advised Nigerian security operatives “to maximize their skills to minimize or out rightly avoid casualties of the security operatives on duty”.
