A former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant from Bayelsa State, Mrs. Tari Oliver, is among this year’s proud listees of “Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women”, a biographical compendium on outstanding women leaders in Nigeria, published by Profiles & Biographies to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day.
This year’s sterling list of Nigeria’s foremost women leaders is a mixed grill of tech experts, pastors, politicians, teachers, activists, development practitioners, and C-Suite corporate leaders and it includes notable women such as the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima; the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Bolaji Agbede, the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, among others.
The compendium is usually unveiled on March 8 as part of the activities to mark International Women’s Day, IWD.
The theme of IWD 2024, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’, spotlighted critical topics essential for fostering inclusive and equitable societies through the economic empowerment of women and girls.
Tari, who currently serves as the Technical Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Agriculture, is a seasoned and accomplished woman with a diverse background in politics, activism, and community development. She has played significant roles in the political landscape of Africa’s leading opposition party, the PDP.
Her political journey includes running as a presidential aspirant and actively participating in the Bayelsa 2019 Gubernatorial elections. She was also a candidate for the House of Assembly elections in Lagos State.
Beyond politics, Tari is a staunch gender activist, social worker, and community organizer. With over 15 years of hands-on grassroots engagement, she tirelessly championed the cause of the underprivileged and marginalized.
Through advocacy and sensitization efforts, she strives to improve the well-being of vulnerable communities, particularly women and children.
