Yola—No fewer than five persons have been confirmed killed in a renewed communal clash in Adamawa State.

The feud, which is between the Setti community in Numan Local Government Area and their Kpasham counterparts in Demsa Local Government Area, has almost become a yearly war in the past two decades.

The clash, this time around, started last Tuesday and extended to yesterday, during which sophisticated weapons were used.

A source said the casualty figure might be higher as hostilities spread into the interior communities of the warring councils.

The two councils form the nucleus of the Bwaites, a socio- cultural group in Adamawa State.
Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the outbreak of hostilities in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleman Ngoroje.

He said the five persons lost their lives in communal violence in Numan and Demsa council.
He added normalcy was gradually returning to the warring zone, even as detachment of anti riot Police had been deployed to the area.
