Ugwuanyi warns Enugu youths against joining Yahoo boys

Former governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has cautioned youths to refrain from joining bad gangs, popularly known as “yahoo boys”.

Gov. Ugwuanyi gave this warning at his Enugu residence during a thank you visit by his former Special Assistant on Special Duty, Dr. Owelle Ejikeme-Odumegwu.

He also charged parents to advise  their wards against joining the deadly group but embrace integrity and good character in order to excel in their chosen careers.

While commending his former aide for the kind gesture, Ugwuanyi said that Dr Ejikeme-Odumegwu has shown the quality of a good servant.

“Go and tell your children not to be distracted by the “yahoo,  yahoo boys”  that are driving fancy cars, or move to join the bad group to be like another person who is rich because you don’t know when the person started hustling to make both ends meet.

“If you have a Yahoo boy in your family, it’s assumed you don’t have a child because they are full of human beings for ritual and you may be a victim,” he said.

Earlier, Dr Ejikeme-Odumegwu who visited Ugwuanyi with a gift of cow and colanuts, said the visit was to express gratitude for giving him appointment as senior special assistant and other positions during his 8 years as governor.

He said that apart from working under him as Special Assistant, he benefited from him as a youth during his 12 years as a member of Federal House of Representatives, representing Udenu and Igbo-Eze North local government area at the lower chamber..

He lauded Governor Ugwuanyi for his love in saving lives, saying, “Governor Ugwuanyi established modern hospital and healthcare in all the 17 local government areas of the state as a governor and as philanthropist, he have been giving healthcare assistance to downtrodden and that’s exactly what others well meaning Individuals should emulate to save lives”.

“My visit to him today was to thank him, because I served as a senior special assistance on special duties all through his 8 years as governor of Enugu State.

“Beside the relationship, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is somebody I knew even before he became the governor. He served as Federal House of Representatives of my constituency for 12 years and was doing well to the youths particularly to myself. So, in my own kindness and based on family discipline, it seemed very necessary to go and say happy new year to him as my master,” he said.
