THE Lagos State Government, yesterday, said that the Third Mainland Bridge will be shut down by the Federal Ministry of Works for rehabilitation.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement, said: “The planned total closure, which is to allow the contractor to execute a major aspect of the ongoing repair works on the bridge, will affect both bounds of the carriageways from noon of to noon of Thursday, February 29, 2024.”

Consequently, all road users have been advised to use alternative routes already provided during the period as the bridge will not be open to traffic for 24 hours.

He listed the alternative routes to include Funsho Williams Avenue to connect Carter Bridge and Eko Bridge, via Ijora, among others.

Osiyemi assured that traffic management officials would be on the ground to manage traffic and minimize inconveniences just as he urged motorists to comply with the traffic and law enforcement agents.
