In a closely contested race, Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerges victorious in the Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa constituencies of Katsina State, securing a narrow win in the House of Representatives.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki as the winner, with a narrow margin of 740 votes.
The APC candidate clinched the victory with 49,807 votes, edging past the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Jamilu Lion, who garnered 49,067 votes.
Break down of the results by local government areas as reportedly released by INEC highlights the tight competition:
– Kankara Local Government: APC – 16,758, PDP – 22,360
– Faskari Local Government: APC – 22,711, PDP – 19,347
– Sabuwa Local Government: APC – 10,338, PDP – 7,360
