Talented music artist, Benjamin Uwah better known as Dabenja has a newly released EP titled “Tribe of Benjamin”. The 7-track record shines a light on the Nigerian singer and his imminent rise within the corridors of Afrobeats.

In a chat, Dabenja notes that his journey into music started from the age of eight when he joined the church choir. He cites listening to artistes like Fela Kuti, Majek Fashek, and Bob Marley as his sources of inspiration.

On the riveting new release, he explains “The Tribe of Benjamin is actually my debut project. Over the years, I have released only singles. This project is deeply personal to me because it reflects my journey, challenges and realities. For me, music is a means of expression. I also aspire to establish a community called Tribe of Benjamin. With this community I hope to assist people in overcoming challenging realities.”

Dabenja whose songs have won awards revealed that ‘Tribe of Benjamin’ is a solo project with no features or collaborations. “I want the world to see and hear what I can do alone. Although, the project was influenced by a number of artists and genres that I find inspiring.”

The musician disclosed that he has been producing and releasing music since 2011 when he dropped “Terere ”. Over the years he has released other singles inc “Better Days”, “Poyoyo”, “Sugarbaby”, “Yakata”.

On his Dabenja Foundation, he noted that it was set up to fulfill his dream of helping the community.

“This pursuit was forged out of sheer concern for the community. I founded the Dabenja Foundation so that I have a means to add my own bit to the world, to make life a little easier for as many as I can through support initiatives. Some of these initiatives include feeding programmes through which we have fed more than 2000 people. We have been able to assist in paying the medical bills of some individuals who could not afford medical care as well as supporting the educational pursuits of some children,” he said.
