Police arrest eight suspects over Plateau killings

The Plateau State Police command says eight suspects have been arrested over the recent killings in Plateau state.

The coordinated attack on Christmas Eve saw over 150 persons killed and 221 houses burnt, with properties worth millions of naira lost in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi local government areas of the state.

Following the attacks, the inspector-general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the deployment of tactical squad and equipment to the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Alfred Alabo, disclosed that eight suspects are in custody and normalcy has been restored to the affected communities.

He said, “Concerning the Inspector General of Police’s deployment, we have been getting tremendous success from that process.

“It would also interest you to know that seven persons, in fact as of the last count, there are now eight of them under investigation in our custody, and they have been moved to the state CID, where the AIG Zone 4 and the commissioner of police are overseeing the affairs of the operation and also the investigation.

“We’ve not only restored normalcy; we’re escorting them back to their villages.”
