Among Nigeria’s silent young achievers, Osborn Nweze Umahi, son of Minister of Works David Umahi, can hardly escape public attention.

 The 26-year-old came under the spotlight in 2023 as he was seen with his father in many political gatherings around the time of the general election in the country.

Unlike other offspring of famous politicians who are seen to be leveraging their fathers’ influence to fame and fortune, Nigerians, however, recognise in Osborn Nweze, the trait of an accomplished entrepreneur.

The young Umahi, who studied civil engineering at Surrey University, United Kingdom, and obtained a Master’s in Finance from Aberdeen University, Scotland, is the Managing Director of Brass Oil and Construction Limited. The multimillion dollar company, founded by his father, is busy in the construction of bridge and road across the country, just as it also operates in the Nigerian oil and gas downstream sector.

Aside from the family business which is the foundation of the Umahi family fortune, he is the visionary chairman of Osborn La-Palm Resort, a hospitality group, with a presence in Lagos, Abuja, Abakiliki and Port Harcourt. Within a short period, he has grown the hotel chain to become formidable in the tourism and hospitality sector.

His profile also includes his work as financial director of Forte GCC Innovative Solutions, a company known for the management of financial assets across real estate, bonds and stocks and with many wealthy individuals in Africa as clients.

Osborn Nweze’s clout in the financial world was evidence in 2022 when he posted on his Instagram: “This time, I’m not leaving Dubai till I raise 1 billion USD for my fund and charity. Fund raising meetings only.”

Given his impressive profile as an entrepreneur, investor and fundraiser, his net worth is speculated to be in the region of $200 million or more.
