…to engage youths to reduce poverty
A foremost Nigerian social commentator, and community leader, Morris Monye has been appointed as Chairman, of Delta State e-Sports Association.
Monye’s appointment was announced by the President of the Nigerian E-sport Association, Mr Yahaha Maikori on Saturday, January 6th, 2024.
In a statement made available to Vanguard, Morris Monye noted that E-sport has the potential to empower and engage the teeming youths of Delta State.
He said, “ I have the utmost belief that together we will take the message of E-Sports to the deepest parts of the state, engage and empower young people and ultimately make Nigeria a global power in E-Sports.”
Monye “Vows to engage youths and use this to pull youths from poverty”.
Until his appointment, Morris Monye was an astute businessman, and community leader and served as a political adviser to the Governorship candidate of the party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
The appointment of Monye e-sport which is believed to be a billion-dollar industry, might be a rallying point for economic rebound in the state as Governor Oborevwori is looking to diversify the economy of Delta state.
