Chelsea are considering signing Karim Benzema and Roberto Firmino, as they look to boost their attacking options in January.
Even though the Blues have spent almost £1 billion on players since Todd Boehly took control two years ago, they are ready to spend this month, and their main priority is a striker.
After signing for £37 million in the summer, Nicolas Jackson has scored eight goals in 23 games across all competitions. Christopher Nkunku, a £50 million acquisition, has only scored once in three Premier League appearances after missing the first three months of the season due to a knee injury.
Only Manchester United and West Ham have scored fewer goals in 21 games than Chelsea, who have 35, and Mauricio Pochettino is keen to find a solution this month. Chelsea is now in the top half of the Premier League league.
Recall Chelsea reportedly have an interest in Napoli’s striker Victor Osimhen, who has a £103million release clause.
Sources close to the 25-year-old have indicated that the Nigeria striker is open to joining Chelsea.
But that deal, given its cost, is more likely to gather pace in the summer – particularly given Osimhen is at the Africa Cup of Nations.
