Back in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after missing out on the last edition, Angola will have surprises up their sleeves to spring up for teams who take a dim view of their artistry.
With their best finish in the competition being the quarter final, the ambition for the Palancas Negras will be the last four, just before they start dreaming of the AFCON title.
Although in history, not many dark horses have gone on to waltz their way to the semi-final, let alone the final, the 2012 Chipolopolo of Zambia is no too distant exemption, and the Angolans might draw on that inspiration to make history in Cote d’Ivoire.
Coach

After remarkable success with the Angolan junior national teams, the former Sporting Lisbon academy coach, Pedro Goncalves will be heading to his first African Cup of Nations with lots of hopes for an unprecedented outing.
Tactical and a bias for possession, Goncalves will be all out to unleash a strong attacking style of play on teams Angola face at the AFCON.
Star Player

Known for his knack for goals, that’s exactly what Angola will be hopeful Gelson Dala delivers for them in Cote d’Ivoire.
The versatility of the 27-year-old forward in the attacking third is one of his biggest strengths, not to mention a very strong right foot that he fancies for some long range shots that goalkeepers find a nightmare.
Rising Star

At 21, Ambrozini Salvador “Zine” has worked his way into meriting a spot in the Angolan national team with his prodigious talents the coach is fond of.
Zine could prove to be the joker for the Angolan national team as his energy, goal-scoring ability and blistering pace could be some qualities Angola will need from a substitute who can consistently deliver them to trump opponents.
