In a nod to academic excellence amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taoreed Lawal, a recent graduate of West Virginia University (WVU), has been lauded for his groundbreaking thesis on the effectiveness of N95 masks.
The recognition came during WVU’s December 2020 Commencement speech, where Lawal’s project work stood out as exemplary amid the unprecedented global health crisis.
Lawal’s deep dive into the efficacy of N95 masks amid the pandemic has garnered widespread attention, shedding light on the critical role of personal protective equipment (PPE) in safeguarding public health, particularly in occupational settings. His research has not only contributed to academic discourse but has practical implications for workplace safety protocols worldwide.

Armed with a degree in Industrial Hygiene and Safety Management, Lawal brings a wealth of expertise to the field of workplace safety. His skills encompass a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations, the development and implementation of effective safety programs, and the identification and mitigation of workplace hazards.
In his current role as a Snr safety specialist, Lawal manages the Industrial Hygiene Program for his organization, where he supports in respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation Program, Ergonomic Assessment, as well as exposure Assessment monitoring for different hazardous chemicals
During his tenure as a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Specialist, Lawal demonstrated his commitment to promoting workplace safety and sustainability.
Notable achievements include spearheading waste management initiatives and implementing a donations program benefiting shelters and food banks across Allegheny County.
