FirstBank reinforces commitment as Lagos Open clocks 62

FirstBank of Nigeria limited, sponsors of the annual Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship has pledges its continuous support and sponsorship of the World Amateur Golf Recognition (WAGR) recognized tournament. 

Speaking at this year’s pre-tournament briefing at the golf section of Ikiyi Club 1938 on Thursday, Olusegun Alebiosu, Executive Director, Chief Risk Officer of FirstBank, who represented, Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan; Chief Executive Officer, FirstBank said the continuous sponsorship of Lagos Open is a proof of the bank’s commitment to the development of talents across all its legacy sports.

“Over the years, FirstBank has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the development of sporting talents in Nigeria, as part of our legacy sports initiatives which includes Golf, Polo, Basketball, Football and Tennis among others”, he said.

To make this year’s edition better, the organisers also sought the backings of Singlenton and Coscharis Motors, which stake one of its brands as part of its partnership.

. “As part of its Strategic Partnership, Coscharis Motors is also sponsoring a Hole-In-One competition on a specific hole. Any one that gets a hole-in-one will win a Ford Edge Mid SUV 2022 edition.”, said Abiona Babarinde,; General Manager, Marketing &Corporate Communications, Coscharis Group.   

Meanwhile the 62nd in the series of the competition will tee off on Thursday, November 16th with Corporate Golf Challenge for Charity. The Charity golf, Alebiosu explained further is the banks way of giving back to the society. 

Last year, the sum some of N10m raised shared between Pacelli School for the Blind and 

Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria. 

Friday, November 17th will see qualified amateurs take their turn on the course in the race that will decide where the events trophy would be heading at the end of day. The low handicap golfer will return on Saturday in continuation of their quest for honour.

Sunday, November 19th is the grand finale. The day will also see former Lagos Open Champion winners take turn on the course for their 18-holes round. The former champions would be playing for the sum of N4m. Expected to also compete in this category is Kenyans Samwuel Njoroge.

The FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship is now one of the international golf events where all amateur golfers worldwide can participate and amass points to aid their WAGR rankings.
