As part of its objective to educate 10,000 children on disability and to empower child amputees with prosthetic limbs, The IREDE Foundation in partnership with CFAO Yamaha Motors took the disability inclusion message to Isolo Senior High School, Isolo Lagos State on the 4th Of October 2023.
According to Wuraola Kayode, Programs Lead, The IREDE Foundation said: “This project was borne out of the need to help child amputees live independent and limitless lives.
“We are also educating young ones about disability to bring bullying and stigmatisation of children with disabilities to the barest minimum.”
This year, The IREDE Foundation has reached over 20 government schools in Lagos state with the message of disability awareness. The foundation is using this medium to call for an inclusive learning environment for children with disabilities across all schools so the number of out-of-school children as a result of disability is brought to the barest minimum.
The highlight of the disability focused conversation which was well received by students of the school, copies of IREDIANS (disability comic book) were distributed to students of the school.
The program was well commended by teachers from the school and members of staff of CFAO Yamaha Motors present at the program.
The Foundation appreciates the ever-present support of The Lagos State Ministry of Education, Education school districts and school
administrators for their support towards the successful implementation of the project.
