Nollywood producer, Laide Daramola, who is set to release her first movie, ‘Hotel Labamba’, believes that the experience she gathered in the American movie industry, famously known as Hollywood, is all that she needs to make a name in the Nigerian movie sector.

She made this known on Thursday, when she held a premiere and media screening in Lagos, for her new movie.

Laide, who was answering questions from members of the media present, also said she believes that the latest Nollywood revolution is set to project Africa as a good place to be, to the world.

” I was born and raised in America, I am just one of those young people who decided to explore Nigeria. I lived here for 9 years before I went back to the USA after giving birth. So right now, I shuttle between Nigeria and the USA. And so, I am coming to Nigeria with a lot of Hollywood experience and bringing it to Nollywood. I am excited to share that and make movies the way I feel it should be made. I am one of those who believe there is enough space in the sky for the birds to fly. Every Nollywood producer has their unique style and I believe that together, we are going to make Africa good to the world” Laide Daramola said.

Laide Daramola also announced that her movie will premiere on the global streaming service, in June 2023, and will be distributed by Cinemax. 

The director and co-producer of Hotel Labamba, Biodun Stephen, also aired her say about the movie. 

“My experiences shape the storyline of my movies, which is what makes them very relatable and exciting to watch” Biodun began.

“The story of Hotel Lambaba, started from a conversation with a friend about Slay queens and Yahoo boys, and I’m happy to have been a part of this movie”. She concluded.

Hotel Labamba, starring the likes of Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Lilian Afegbai, Bolaji Ogunmola, Kachi Nnochiri, Blessing Jessica Obasi, Etinosa Idemudia, and more, follows the murder of a popular Instagram influencer in a secretive hotel known only to a select few. With everyone a suspect, the pressure is on for the detectives to solve the case before the killer strikes again.
