Ahead of the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate in Ogun Central, Chief Olumide Aderinokun, has taken his campaign closer to the people with ward-to-ward visitations across the senatorial district.
This is as the renowned philanthropist disclosed that he has purchased and would distribute 1000 free Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigents students in the six local governments areas in Ogun Central.
The PDP candidate kicked off his Ward campaign on Monday in Abeokuta North LGA where he expressed his readiness to cover the 74 wards in the six area councils that make up Ogun Central.
Aderinokun who attended Oke-Ona Community Development Council (CDC) general meeting with his team, and met with various groups including Hausa and Igbo communities, artisan associations, and community leaders, said he was familiar with the numerous challenges individuals and businesses are faced with in Ogun State due to the incumbent government’s failure to provide people-oriented leadership.
Some of the challenges as listed by the residents include bad roads, lack of potable water, and lack of government support, among others.
He promised the people, especially traders in Elega community a borehole project with assurances of relaying their request for a transformer to the PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu and as well as the provision of solar lights around the market.
Meanwhile, the free JAMB forms which catered to over 200 students in 2022, is aimed at helping the beneficiaries to realize their potential and to give them opportunity for a brighter future.
It would be recalled that Aderinokun had empowered no fewer than 50 students across Ogun Central with the sum of N50,000 each in a scholarship programme through his Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation.
According to him, education was an important aspect of human life as well as the life wire that would help sustain society which has made it imperative for every government at all levels to place premium importance on education.
