Group demands justice for ex-Lagos gov’s son, Olaolu

By Dickson Omobola

A cycling group, Pitstop Community, has called on the Lagos State Police Command to expedite action in identifying the killer of Dr Olaolu Mudashiru, son of a former Lagos State Military Administrator, Group Capt Gbolahan Mudashiru, retd.

It lamented that the killer of the deceased medical doctor is yet to be identified, saying the deceased deserves justice.

The group, to which the late Mudashiru belonged, said this yesterday in Lagos at a farewell ceremony in his honour.

The deceased was reported dead after being murdered by a hit-and-run vehicle while cycling on December 11, 2022, in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, founder of Pitstop, Aminadab Adegboro, said there was a need to raise awareness for cyclists to ensure their protection.

She said: “This is our way of mourning Dr Bob, who was an integral part of our cycling community. He will be missed. I would implore the police to do everything within their reach to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Also, we appeal to motorists to be patient with us when they see us cycling on the roads. It won’t take them anything to give us like three feet.

“We advise that motorists don’t drink and drive. They shouldn’t text while driving and they should be generous enough to share the roads with cyclists and every other road user including sprinters, and joggers because we are all trying to keep fit and that shouldn’t be a crime.

“As cyclists, it is usually difficult for each individual to go out of their homes to meet the larger group without meeting with danger. As a result, we advise that every cyclist coming out from their homes should have their drivers behind them protecting them from vehicles that could pose danger to them.”

On her part, aunt to the deceased, Mrs. Bolatito Ajibode, said: “We are hurting but thankful that his journey in life was not without purpose. The police have promised that they are working to make sure that his killer is caught. However, we leave everything that has happened to God, even though we are doing our best to catch the hit-and-run driver.”
