Over 2500 Nigerians doing more at the SheCan training

Over 2500 women, girls and men alike were seen doing more at the SheCan Nigeria four days Annual Skill Acquisition Training, Lagos Edition held on Friday at the North Gate Arena event center, Anthony, Lagos.

SheCan Nigeria is a non-governmental organization poised with the vision to empower and build Nigeria women and girls to realize their potential irrespective of their background.

Beaming with joy at the graduation/exhibition ceremony organised for the participants who have learned various skills at the training, Mrs. Ezinne Ezeani, founder of SheCan Nigeria praised the participants whom she said were the best for bringing so much drive into the training, adding that their cooperation with their facilitators to bring the best out of them was commendable.

Ezeani advised them to always push forward to do more, which she said will push them to understand that they would need to strive for excellence, strive to be more, and do more in their career, education, or businesses, and they will be the best.

On her part, Mrs. Belinda Ikazoboh, General manager, Business transformation at Shell/SNEPCO impressed with the exhibition of the products by participants at the training, said she was humbled, impressed, and inspired to do more, adding that what the participants did was not just for themselves, but have also inspired other people outside to do more.

“Be focused, work hard and also play forward to help others too”. She advised.

Thanking SheCan Nigeria for achieving the great feat, Ikazoboh advised the organization to keep up the good work which she said through their continuity and tenacity in creating opportunities and inspiring people to get out there to do more, was changing Nigeria.

Mrs. Junadia Danso-Edim, the Group CEO of Lagos-based real estate development and management firm, Middlechase Properties Ltd, a subsidiary of Arkbridge Integrated Ltd gave an opportunity of free training to participants whom she said must be genuinely interested in learning how to start a real Estate business, adding that the training will help them build financial future regardless of what they have.

Edim awarded participants of the ‘Omalicha’ headgear challenge an undisclosed cash prizes and an invitation to the launch of the company’s new product, ‘Omalicha’, which she said was a unique product targeted at women in low, middle, and high-income earning women to own houses and income generating assets.

Mrs. Olajumoke Ajayi, a SheCan Nigeria Board Member at the event said through the Annual Skill Acquisition Programme, SheCan contributes to the drive to eradicate unemployment in the country. She however advised participants to emphasize on giving out quality products to their customers and avoid cutting corners in an attempt to have a quick breakthrough in their chosen businesses.

Mrs. Folashade Moyo-Falayi, Legal Counsel Upstream Commercial & Gas at Shell/SNEPCO, spoke to the participants to stay away from illegality, crime but to be compliant with the law when they begin their businesses, adding that if SheCan was involved in illegality, the organisation wouldn’t have gotten the support they are getting from their sponsors.

Advising them as beneficiaries of SheCan skill acquisition, Moyo-Falayi said they should do more by setting up a trust for themselves and their beneficiaries to reduce out-of-school children and to take crime out of the street. She added that it would be the only way to be involved in their own matter after they must have left this world. “You can actually speak from the dead if you have taken the right actions of setting up a trust, because life happens. Give yourself to honesty, integrity, and savings for yourself and the future”. She stressed.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Stanley Ezeani, the Co-founder SheCan Nigeria and the Managing Director, Mbr Signature Ltd, thanked the sponsors and partners for believing in the dream and aligning with the vision through their unwavering support to all their various programmes by ensuring that women continue to do more.

To the participants, Ezeani said, “You have been trained and there is nothing on earth that has never happened before. What will make the difference is what you choose to do from what you have learnt. You have been empowered so much but it is now up to you to decide what to make out of it. I encourage you to be the best and not just doing more, but doing the right more”. He added.

The training powered by NNPC/SNEPCO, supported by ALAT/Sara, Middlechase Properties Ltd, Guinness Ltd, and Mbr Signature, saw participants trained in Photography, Makeup, 3D Graphics design, Mural Painting, Culinary Class, Ankara/ Leather Works, Crafts (Fascinator) and Digital Marketing.

A cheque of One Hundred Thousand Naira was given to a participant from each class based on punctuality, consistency, attitude to work, and attitude in class. They were; Blessed Omogene; makeup class, Blessing Simeon; graphics class, Samson Ogaro; Photography class, Ezeano Blessing; catering Class, Azeezat Usman; Mural Class, Odujirin Boluwatife; Ankara Class and Stephen Tobi; Fascinator class.
