… Fulanis to be integral part of my administration – Bago
…as others rally for APC victory

AHEAD of the 2023 governorship election in Niger State, the Fulani community has declared massive support and to mobilize votes for the governorship candidate of the Niger State All Progressives Congress, APC, Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The declaration was made during a Town Hall Interactive Session with Fulani Stakeholders by Bago, which was organized by Fulbe APC Support Organization Niger State.
Earlier, the Niger State Coordinator of Tinubu/Bago Ruga Ruga Fulbe APC Support Organization, Umaru Ahmed Rebe, said the Fulani community are not enemies of Niger State but it is part of them and anything that affects the State directly and indirect also affects them, and will be part of the socio-economic life of the people, and also are ready for the forthcoming election, and they are for the Tinubu presidency.
According to Rebe who doubles as Niger State Coordinator of Nomadic Education, disclosed that all 25 Excos of Tinubu/Bago Ruga Ruga Fulbe APC Support Organization in the 25 local government areas of the State have thrown weight behind the Tinubu-Shettima presidency and have collaborated with the party at the local and ward levels.
He said: “All the various groups are well represented here, and we have advised all our 25 Excos at the various 25 local governments of the state to collaborate with the party at their various local government areas.
“We need to be carried along and be empowered as every Nigerian, and be accorded respect we deserve.
“I, therefore, seize the opportunity to declare our support and endorse Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mohammed Umaru Bago for president and governor respectively, and all APC candidates.”
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate in Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, pointed that the Fulanis in Niger State are as important as other citizens of the State, hence he said it will be important for him if elected governor ensure they are part of the security architecture to effectively beef up security in the State for a peaceful and progressing State.
Bago promised this while addressing the Fulani stakeholders during the Town Hall Interactive Secession, where he said the synergy with the Fulani community is paramount and germane for a people centred administration.
According to him, the Fulanis would be engaged for intelligence gathering and as rangers in collaboration with other security agencies in the State.
Speaking extensively on the strategies he would use to ensure peace and security, he said he would engage Fulanis on the eradicating banditry that has heavily impacted the peace and stability of the State, and other security issues.
He also assured the stakeholders of giving Fulanis a sense of belonging and would ensure they are carried along in the process of governance and empower them with skills other than cattle rearing.
He said: “I wonder why Fulani cannot be a mechanic or do any other suitable vocation just like any other Nigerian citizen.”
However, he (Bago) also called for the recognition of nomadic schools and their need to be integrated with the conventional ones.
According to him, the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, was informed by him that there were about 1 million Fulanis in Niger State alone, which the Governor is planning to come up with news, informative and educative programmes that would in broadcasted in Fulbe language over the State Television and radio stations.
The state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, who was represented by his deputy, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso assured the association that government will continue to support them by ensuring it contributes its quota to the progress and development of the Fulani.
In a remark, the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial Zone (Zone B), Sen. Sani Musa, said forgiving one another, was the beginning of a healing process, as he apologized to the Fulani where they might have wronged them and pleaded with them to turn a new leaf, saying that everybody must do the right thing.
He declared to sponsor annual vaccination of their animals as he donated an 18 seater bus and N5 million cash to the organization.
