Renowned Nigerian business leader and CEO of Pecksgrey Group, Oluremi Olukoya, has once again demonstrated his commitment to building climate-resilient infrastructure with the completion of an 18-classroom block and a state-of-the-art football pitch, a world-class athletic running track, and a modern seating arena at Elemoro Community Junior Secondary School under the auspices of The Special Committee of Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS), an agency of the Lagos State Government. Finished in December 2021, the project is a prime example of how Olukoya’s sustainable vision is reshaping the construction industry and benefiting local communities.

The new facility includes 12 standard classrooms, six specialized rooms for Home Economics, an arts and music studio, a science laboratory, a library, an ICT room, staff offices, a sickbay, a canteen block, and over 30 modern toilet facilities. Additionally, a standard football pitch was constructed, encouraging physical education and sports for students.

Olukoya’s commitment to sustainability is evident in his approach to using eco-friendly materials, designed to withstand the ever-evolving challenges posed by climate change. “Most infrastructures built in the past decades were not designed to handle the realities of today’s climate. We made it a priority to ensure this new school could stand the test of time by incorporating materials that are both sustainable and cost-effective,” said Olukoya.

Pecksgrey Group, under Olukoya’s leadership, has successfully completed over 150 construction projects across Nigeria, positively impacting countless lives. The Elemoro project is particularly significant, as it offers students a modern, resilient learning environment while addressing the broader issue of climate vulnerability in infrastructure.

The use of sustainable materials also brings long-term cost savings. Not only are these buildings more durable, but they also require less frequent repairs, ensuring that resources are better utilized for educational improvements rather than constant maintenance.
