SEO Lagos has trained over 500 people comprising journalists, undergraduates, digital marketers on Search Engine Optimization, SEO.

Speaking on the training, the Director of Training at SEO Lagos, Afeez Adebayo, noted that the skill is an imperative tool needed to help improve business visibility on search engines.

According to Adebayo, the training was scheduled online for four weeks, and it provided a healthy community for mentorships, advice, and job opportunities for the would-be graduands.

Adebayo said, “SEO is a subset skill in the digital marketing niche. Because our ecosystem is not as developed as the US, or UK of this world, many businesses tend to infuse SEO as a skill a digital marketer should have, instead of it being a specialisation alone.

“We’ve seen a huge uptick in the demand for SEO specialists in the market, especially as businesses and media continue to move online as eCommerce or online websites.

“With higher internet penetration and lower barrier to owning an internet-enabled phone, the demand for an SEO specialist will continue to soar. Invariably, we’re providing scholarships for Nigerians to learn SEO in order to tap into these job demands,” he said.

Adebayo further said Microsoft recently listed SEO as the most important hard skill for every marketer in this decade, adding that, “And we’re preparing Nigerians for it.”

SEO Lagos, an initiative owned by Digital Marketing PRO, had earlier in the year, announced a scholarship program intended to train journalists, undergraduates and digital marketers, notably on Google.
