A former new generation bank employeee in Ponteau, Sapele, Imafidon Omo Emmanuel who early last year departed the country has said he left Nigeria to his present abode to escape trial for homosexual offence he committed right in his office in the branch on the 27th of December, 2019.

In a telephone message to Vanguard, he said, “ I am homosexual. On that faithful day I brought my male sex partner to my personal office in the Ponteau Sapele branch of the bank where I worked. We were having sex on my table when one of my colleagues opened the door, came in and caught us in the act. The time was around 5pm and we had closed for customers.”

“I thought I had locked the door but I didn’t lock it, so he was able to come in. He didn’t knock before he came in. When he saw us having sex, he shouted very loudly at us. His shout attracted several others to my office, just as we were hurriedly trying to dress up again. He also called the security men who also came in. The security men called on some local vigilante boys who were around the area and some showed up at the scene.

“Both the security men and the vigilante detained me in my office after they had driven my sex partner away. The security men and the vigilante boys agreed to drag me to the police to arrest me but I was struggling with them, telling them I would not follow them. I was just in boxers and bare footed, as they did not allow me to wear any other thing.

“The vigilante boys started pushing and threatening to stab me if I continue struggling with them. One of them brought out a knife and he wanted to stab my hand but as I turned my hands backward the knife gave me a deep cut on my stomach. As blood was gushing out, they all agreed that I should, first, be taken to the hospital. So they drove me to a hospital in Sapele.

“It was when the doctor was treating me at about 6pm that the security me and the vigilante boys left, but with a promise to return the following day. I was there in the hospital till about 10pm on that day when I told the security man attached to me that I wanted to attend the toilet. I was actually looking for an escape root. He took me to the toilet. I discovered that the back window of the toilet had no iron protector and I escaped out through the window that night, with just boxers.

The security men promptly reported the matter to the police the following day. The police have been looking for me everywhere. They have declared me wanted. Few days later after the matter got to the police, the police charged the matter to court too. The matter is still in court.

I ran away from my sick bed. I got home very late. I didn’t sleep in my house. I got dressed that night and left for Benin city where I slept in a hotel. The following day, at about 6am I began my journey to Lagos. I was treated in Lagos. That was how I continued my journey till I got into where I am now. It was a terrible experience, but all is alright now.
