While many were lamenting the harsh economic challenges brought on by Covid 19 and the safety precautions and restrictions necessitated by it, accountant turned lifestyle connoisseur and branding strategist Ojulari Olasunkanmi also known as ‘Sunky O’, was strategizing and planning how to execute the first ever DRIVE THRU CONCERT in Nigeria.

The event held on 30th May 2020, at Bay Lounge, Admiralty Road Lekki phase 1, had the Mayor of Lagos, afrobeat pop star Mayorkun & zanku originator Zlatan as headliners with DJ Obi, DJ Consequence and DJ Kenzy as deejays for the day. The concert, the first of its kind in the state, had the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) ensuring that safety protocols and adequate distancing were observed by attendees and Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) managing traffic at the event to eliminate bottlenecks and unnecessary delays.

With the success of the first event, Sunky O has indicated that plans are in motion for the return of the drive thru concert this December as part of its holiday events plan for the Yuletide season.

Ojulari, who is also a Ciroc ambassador, says the second edition will be bigger, better and more glamorous than the first. He said while the first edition was a huge success given the unprecedented turn out, lessons were learned which will be implemented to the second edition even better. “We are presently in talks with the owners of prospective venues, once we decide on the best one and have reached an agreement with the management, we will announce the same along with dates, headline artistes and resident deejays for the event.

Ojulari Olasunkanmi is the founder & CEO of ‘The Sunky O Lifestyle Company’. A premium entertainment & lifestyle brand based in Lagos, Nigeria, they are known for their day & beach parties. Asides the events planning and management business, they are also branding strategists, artiste management and music distribution company.
