The police in Ihiala, in Anambra State, Nigeria have declared one Eric Obinna Nwaeze and his wife wanted for his refusal to swear an oath over alleged witchcraft in the death of one Kenneth Nwafor and his family.

Nwaeze, who was born on April 8, 1989, in Ihiala, Anambra State, Nigeria, and his wife were accused of knowledge of the alleged death of his friend, Kenneth Nwafor and his wife through witchcraft in the village at about 12 noon, on November 28, 2014.

Nwaeze visited them and left that day only to be told later of their deaths. Accusing finger was now pointed at him and the family of the diseased became and sought that in conformity with their tradition, Eric Nwaeze must swear an oath to prove that he was ignorant of their death by witchcraft, or be banished from the village. Eric Obinna Nwaeze’s refusal because of his Christian belief led to his banishment.

A week after the incident on December 5, 2014, the relations of the victims were not satisfied with the banishment hence they reported the case to the police, accusing  Nwaeze of complicity by witchcraft, but the police advised them to bury the victims, but declared Eric wanted as a suspect.

The family has instigated the police to ask anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of Eric Nwaeze and retort to them.
