Over 1, 000 young people have subscribed to the newly launched Ga’atevest App within two weeks, created by Nigeria Farmers Group and Cooperative Society, NFGCS.
This was disclosed by the National Coordinator, NFGCS, Mr. Retson Tedheke, while stressing that Nigeria and Nigerians should take agriculture seriously following recent development in the global crude oil market that has posed a serious threat to the nation’s economy, but agriculture remains the best alternative to sustain the economy and also tackle the growing population including job creation and reduction in criminal activities.
According to Tedheke Ga’atevest App is a solution designed by NFGCS to help ordinary Nigerians at home and abroad key into a vision that is larger as it solves the problem of micro-financing in the Nigerian agricultural sector.

He also said anybody can go on social media and access the App and download it, by clicking it on rice, poultry, pando yam, yam flour structure, and other agricultural value chains available on its 3, 000-hectare farm estate in Ga’ate of Kukona Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
He said: “The Ga’atevest App is created by Nigeria Farmers Group and Cooperative Society, NFGCS, and facilitates assistance to those who want to invest in farming which we provide 10 hectares in Nasarawa State, also owning cattle, poultry, where a group of Nigerians will take it upon themselves to cultivate, manage the farm, processing, and ensure the product gets to the market.
“It is done through a crowd-funding platform named Ga’atevest App. They can become a distributor and active player in the agro sector without being worried about the effort they will put in place because in rural Nigeria there are people who need jobs.
“Ga’atevest App is an attempt for changing the narrative. When we mobilize from the masses, from productive capacity that is helping us grow our country where every Nigerian see that he is a part-owner of a national project.
“Through the Ga’atevest App, we are telling everybody that we can make this country great and it is an App that looks at the Nigerian agro sector and say we can make this country achieve its true potential through agriculture.
“Ga’atevest App is available on Android and Apple Store. What it does it to provide Nigerians ample opportunity that they can tap into the agricultural sector. For example, we are interested in rice milling-aggregate paddy; the same thing with the cow-hydroponic programme; maize-feed mill; kenef, and other groups.
“It is an app and a major platform itself. It is a productive app that helps us produce, while the funding for all our production processes will serve primarily in the App itself in the interest of our members, and interest of growing the farm.”

He also explained further about the App and its benefits to investors and how it would connect more Nigerians to the agricultural sector to have a high return on investment.
“So it is developed in such a way that Nigerians can key in the minutest micro level. For example, a trailer-load of rice paddy is about N4.3million and brings it to millers on the farm and says process it on our behalf. How many Nigerians can do it? They are very few.
“However, what the App has done is to split that trailer-load into pockets where a Nigerian with N100, 000 can go to the App and say I can afford N4.5 million but I can afford N2.5 million toward you producing rice.
“So the App is a platform that helps Nigerians connect to agriculture and help to produce as a cooperative develop, support the Nigerian economy generally while making money for all our members, and exactly that is what the App is all about”, he stated.
