Inaugurating the learning centre, the Project Coordinator of the NGO, Alhaji Khalifa Dankadai, said the aim was to decongest the already existing Almajiri tsangaya schools in the urban centres.

According to him, “Our concern for the welfare and future of the almajiris, initiated the idea to establish the centres in many parts of the state.”

He said that the organisation had inaugurated a supervisory committee from the community to monitor the centre and sustain its activities.

“The village Head will chair the committee and work with local authorities because we want them to have a stake in the project.”

Dankadai added that the project had targeted the less privileged children and would teach them numeracy and hygiene, in addition to Qur’anic education.

The District head of the area, Alhaji Muhmmad Tukur in his speech, commended the NGO and appealed to other organisations to emulate the NGO for the development of the almajiri educational system.
