THE Nasarawa State Government has uncovered over 200 ghost workers in the Payroll Vouchers (PV) of the various Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Commissioner for  Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  Haruna Osegba disclosed this Friday during LG Joint Account Committee meeting in Lafia.

According to the Commissioner, it was shocking to the government when it discovered that names were deleted from the PV recently during the upgrade of their system, adding that the system deleted the names based on the biometric data capturing carried out in 2013.

“The implication was that the affected persons must have altered their records in order to still remain in service when they were supposed to retire,” the Commissioner added.

Osegba lamented why despite the fact that workers were retiring every year, salary remained the same all the years. He urged all the Chairmen of the LGAs to communicate to the ministry whenever any staff retired to enable them remove such person’s name from the PV.
