Speaking on behalf of Across Media, organizers of the training, Afolabi Orekoya explained that there is need for EKEDC, by virtue of the service they provide, to understand what the consumers who are their customers expect from them.

Funmi Sotonwa, Human Resource Officer, EKEDC, who was present at the training noted that being an organisation that supplies power to the public, they feel the need for the corporate communication staff to be equipped with better communication skills.

“There is a difference between merely saying that customer is key as opposed to acting accordingly. A lot of times, when the customer walks in, you just pass information and move on to the next person, but there is the need to go beyond that. That is why we put this up for our corporate communications team to equip them for better relations to the public in terms of the challenges they face.” She said.

Also commenting on the training, Yakubu Mohammed, Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, added that, “Truly, we have learnt a lot. To start with, the facilitators were great and it was an opportunity for us to interact as a team and a platform for team building as well. We shared ideas and perspectives and experiences; we have gotten new skills and sharpened our existing skills.”
